May 11 Weekly Message

May 11, 2020

Dear Parents:

The time has come to begin preparing for the end of the school year.  Please note the following important information for each grade level.  With the governor’s announcement today that our state will move into Phase 1 of reopening beginning May 15, we can now finalize the details for the various activities.  Those details will be shared by your campus principal in the coming days.  For now, please mark the dates on your calendar.

As you plan for your child to return to campus one last time this school year, note that only one parent may accompany each student in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 4th.  Middle school students are expected to return to campus without parents and in the school uniform.  Families with more than one child will, unfortunately, need to make plans for multiple trips to campus.  In order to control the campus environment, only the classrooms on the schedule will be accessible at the given times.  Other classrooms will be locked, and access prohibited.

In order to make it possible for CBS to live stream selected events on YouTube particularly at the end of the school year, we need help from you – our parents.  It's as simple as going to our school YouTube channel and clicking a button.  We need the cooperation of 1,000 subscribers for the opportunity to do mobile live streaming on our YouTube channel.  Thus, we are asking any parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt, or friend of a CBS student who has a Gmail account to go to our YouTube channel by clicking on this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC73jY7okjM46CYqNHyBb93A .  Then, please sign-in with your Gmail account and click on the Subscribe button.  Timing is of the essence as we hope to live stream a few events in the very near future.  So if you could take care of this as soon as possible, it shall be greatly appreciated.

As we contemplate the start of summer camp, we understand that the most recent proclamation from the governor permits youth summer camps.  Assuming that understanding is correct and that there are no additional, more restrictive, local proclamations to the contrary, we plan to open summer camp as scheduled on June 8.  CBS expects to have a daily health screening each morning for all campers and staff, smaller group sizes, and other social distancing measures to create a safe environment for all participants.  Of course, more information will be shared with those who are registered for camp in a letter from the camp directors toward the end of May.

For those who are beginning to think about uniforms for the upcoming school year, I have a message for you from our uniform supplier, Schiro’s School Time.  While the store is currently closed and with no opening date yet known, Schiro’s is encouraging customers to shop online at www.schiro’s.com.  The annual May sale offering the usual 15% discount is being offered online.  Customers can also earn double School Time Bucks during the month of May.  In other words, a customer can now earn $10 in School Time Bucks for every $100 spent (pre-tax and after discount) on a single order.  The School Time Bucks will be shipped along with the qualifying orders and may be redeemed on in-store purchases from October – December, 2020.  A return label will be included with all orders in the event that an item does not fit properly.  In addition, you can contact Schiro’s weekdays at 885-2993 between the hours of 11:00-3:00 with questions regarding item sizes, etc.  For assistance while the store is closed, email webservices@schooltimeuniforms.com.

In closing, this Friday is the feast of our founder, St. John Baptist de la Salle.  On this special day each year, we celebrate the memory and legacy of this extraordinary man who gifted the world with the religious order of the Christian Brothers.  May this feast day also inspire us to sustain educational communities which provide young people the opportunity to receive a quality education while experiencing the presence of God in their lives.  St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us!

Live Jesus In Our Hearts,

Joey
